1. Do we have a Facebook page??

Answer: Yes, we do. Glen Oaks Neighborhood Association.

2. Do I need a building permit to erect a new fence, storage barn or inground pool?

Answer: Yes, you do. Contact the HOA’s Tech Committee at 317-418-4950. Show them your plans or the contractor’s plans for your project. They will check the Glen Oaks plat plans to make sure that the project setbacks and the easements are not being violated according to the Covenants & Restrictions. Next, contact the Building Commissioner, Aaron Jordan, at ajordan@cumberland.in.gov at the Town of Cumberland, with your approval from the HOA for instructions. Don’t forget the HOA needs to sign off on your project first.

3. I did not join the Homeowner’s Association, therefore, I don’t have to follow the Covenants & Restrictions.

Answer: Not true. Every homeowner in the neighborhood is either a passive member or an active member of the HOA. The Covenants & Restrictions run with the land and were put into our legal descriptions by the developers back when Glen Oaks was developed.

4. How much are the dues?

Answer: The dues are $25 for the first year, and $15 per year thereafter. The dues have never been raised. The HOA sponsors several social functions throughout the year, the Easter Egg Hunt, July 4th Parade & Picnic, Holiday Cookie Exchange and Holiday Home Decorating Contest. The HOA pays for the website, corporate filing fees, taxes, PO box rental, association signs, etc. The HOA bought the Entrance signs and recently renovated the border and the stone around the signs, to keep it fresh looking. Very kind residents maintain those plants, and decorate at the signs for different times each year, holidays etc.

5. Please read the Covenants & Restrictions. We are not like most HOAs today. We don’t care what color you paint your front door. We have Covenants & Restrictions that were put in place to keep Glen Oaks beautiful and a wonderful neighborhood to live in. Please help by paying your $15 dues every year. You won’t be sorry.

6. We are going to set up a “WhatsApp” in the very near future. This is not mandatory, but rather a social media platform, where you can talk with your neighbors, ask questions, etc. You will receive an email from the Homeowner’s Association with details. If we don’t have your email, we won’t be able to add you. You will only be added if you respond to the email that you want to be included.
